This is another mutant quail, probably homozygous silver. Can’t stand up straight and shakes like he has Parkinson’s. Zips around like a windup toy and gets stepped on a lot.

This is "Einstein" 😂
Just hatched- came from two black mixed breed parents. Maybe we should call it "mongrel" ? Geez- look at that hair do! What a total mess! Believe it or not it was actually dry when I took these! 😆

Just checked on it in the brooder if I hadn't of taken a picture of that mess you'd have never known how ridiculous that guy looked previously! Totally normal and fluffy cute now. But 😲 only a hair do a mother could love on that one! Tee-hee!

If anyone can think of a good caption for these I'm all ears!
OMG adorable 🤩 Einstein is a great name 🤣

This is Cyclops, a chick I believe would've been a Buckeye, hard to tell when they are wet.

This chick would've hatched out on April 10, 2024 but it was not able to hatch because of it's obvious deformities. I opened up the egg to see what was wrong after all his siblings hatched and I found out pretty quick. The chick breathed a couple times and then died in my hands.

He had a completely exposed brain, 1 eye in the middle of his head and 1 on each side (3 in total), and 2 beaks which appear to be scissor beaks. He is a rare case of "Siamese twins". Taxidermists actually add a second head onto chicks to make it seem like they were siamese twins, but I got the real deal. That was a weird day.

Now I need to find someone who can preserve this chick for me so I can have the specimen as a memory of a genetic oddity.

Very disturbing. Although, maybe if it’s brain wasn’t so exposed, you could have had a two headed pet. People pay a lot of money to see weird chickens.

Don’t let her small size fool you, that bird in the middle is my most important hen. In a world of brown and cream egg layers, and with my Americana “pullet” turning out to be a boy, Robin is something special. You can’t tell by the feathers, but she lays blue eggs.
