Interesting. Hawk chicken interactions I have seen did not last as long. Also rooster is not a by-stander and delivers the majority of the attack.

I thought all chickens would attack a hawk if its on the ground base from videos I have found but in this video it was all the mother hen doing.

I think I is awesome seeing chickens protecting each other. last week I heard my roo make this horrible growl noise over the baby monitor. By the time I got to the barn I found him flogging this opossum. Was the most shocking thing I've ever seen. Well as far as my birds.

They seem to attack hawk only when protecting kin. Even chicks will take on a kestrel if siblings around. Roosters do it to protect offspring more than hens.

Chick had size advantage on kestrel.
