I was holding my silkie hen and walking to the house to bath her. They (hen and roo) have mites. When she laid the long awaited egg!!! It drop right on the ground!! So i picked it up and run back to the barn and put the egg in the nest. She tried to eat it!!!I have never had this problem before and i dont have a incubater. Should i take out the roo and try again Or want untill hubby gets home (3hrs!) And try and catch a phoinex hen and see if she will sit on it? What if she has more eggs? what do i do with the egg till then. Its in a towel right now.
i really dont want to lose these eggs. ive been waiting forever for them to breed. This is really new to me. My other silkies i had were the prefect parents. my other question is the nats crazy here and drawing blood on my birds how can i get rid of them or help my birds.
