Mothers with chicks laying eggs

just want to clarify - if she pecks them and drives them away just to lay, then gathers her brood when she is finished, she is a fine mother hen who happens to be a champion layer too!

I have a bantam hen sitting on purchased fertile eggs. It is now day 23 and none have hatched. Do I remove the eggs and if so do I take her away from the nest and put her with the rest of the flock. Thanks.
