Axshully.... bug and moth parts are typical in all the spices and flour and any products made with grains. The FDA has specifications for how many bug parts per ____? so you really cannot avoid the moths and clumping. If you have cumin, curry powder or chili powder that's more than a month old, pour some out and check for clumping... it's little cocoons the tiny moths spin and hatch baby moths. I freeze my spices, then add a bay leaf to the can when I open it.
My mom used to put bay leaves in all the flour and oatmeal and scatter them in her spice cabinet. Should work for bird seed, scratch and chicken feed too. You can buy bay leaves in BULK at any health food store which sells bulk spices. A half-pound of bay leaves will last you for the rest of your life!
Frankly, I agree with just feeding chickens the mothy scratch anyway. My girls chase down moths and mosquitoes and hop into the air to catch them and gobble them down. Moths in their scratch is a bonus treat!
