mottled ancona - cockerel or pullet?

so my parents got a whole bunch of chicks from meyer hatchery in ohio, and ordered them all as pullets. however, we have suspicions about one of our mottled anconas being male. they are about 8 weeks old now. the chick/chicken in question has a much larger and redder comb and wattles and seems a little bigger/more developed than the rest. my dad also observed it making a noise that he said almost resembled crowing. but then again, that could just be an awkward cluck since they’re going through “chicken puberty.” and i’m trying to keep in mind that this could just be a very mature pullet.

I have attached 2 photos to this - one of what the other mottled ancona pullets look like at this point in time, and then one of the chicken in question. what does everyone think?

we are not quite sure yet haha. we’ve had bad experiences with roosters in the past so we may wait and see if he grows to be mean. every other rooster we’ve had before has started out nice and then grown to be a menace lol

@AnnaJFo this an older thread but that was definitely a male. Ancona hens do have larger combs but not at that age. Here's a pic of my female Ancona at age 8 weeks for you to compare.

Do you have an Ancona? You can create your own thread with a pic and others would be happy to help you sex your young chickens.

I do! It’s either an Ancona or exchequer leghorn and it looks exactly like the one in this thread so I was holding out any hope that it could somehow miraculously still be a pullet basically in denial lol. I have posted it in other threads, attaching photos for you. Thank you for your reference photo!

How old? Definitely a cockerel if the same age as the one in this thread.
