It's definitely a rooster. He started crowing the day after I posted this, never shuts up, does a little fluffy feet dance every time I go near his girls, and bit me when I tried picking him up. He's awesome with his girls. I'll cry when he goes.... but he has to. Young kids and mean roosters don't mix.
I have a LF Blue Cochin cockerel who has bitten me once and has bit at me a couple of times. I started following some of the advice off of the rooster thread and it has really made a difference. He's a youth so he keeps trying his boundaries but I know he'll mellow out. So what they said was to grab him by the feet the next time he either tries to bite or does bite. Hold tight and hang him upside down until he quits fighting you and submits. Then bring him up into a football carry and hold his head down in a submissive posture. They say to keep him that way for a while remind him who is Alpha. Personally I added in grabbing ahold of his beak and telling him no no. I am freshly versed in it tonight as we had to play "Who's The Boss" earlier. It's been a couple of weeks since the last time he bit at me. I also make him sit down on my lap once he has calmed down. He's a good rooster and I have no doubt this behavior will come to an end. He stays away from the grandkids and they know to let him be until he's older.
