MOTTLED COCHIN THREAD~!

Pics
I thought it was just me that loved Tonka. As much as people come to the farm and see my pens of Mottleds and ooohhh and aaaahhhh over them, they go nuts over Tonka. He is striking in color, pattern and type.
The person I got him from said he was a snot but he has been perfect for me the last 2 years. I adore him and he is an angel to me and his hens. I get decent colored babies from him but his type is mostly what I am after and he is good to throw that, too.

So wish my 3 eggs from Tonka had made it last yr. BUT still very proud to have two beautiful girls, one each from Rascal & Grant. They are now breeding and making beautiful little ones with Buddha (avatar), my blue mottled from Stephanie (FunkyFeathers). I'll have to share some pics of the offspring when they get full featherd etc.
Still have my two MF/calico girls (one ea. from Schmoozle & Xavier) but I have no roo for them so they are just in with my brown/red, Coppertop. Not sure what I'm going to do there. Almost to intimidated to continue with MF project idea, but I do so love their colors. Time will tell

I adore my Mottleds.
I am sure betting you will have some lovelies from your cross to the blue roo.

I should do more blues since they sell so well and it would sure help my feed bill but I am so blasted picky about what they should look like that I wind up keeping most birds to see what changes should be made in my breeding program.

If ever you need to get a MF roo, I am sure several of us on here have extras. I have 2 more growing up that are iffy to me. I like them one day and know I should not keep them the next. Too many roos here already. But they are so pretty! And I am hatching like mad. Ugh!

Dorothy is beautiful! I wish I had black mottled hens. All of the ones hatched this year with good mottling have been blue. I have gotten one black hen with a couple spots of white. But, blue is pretty much all I get.

Thanks she has quickly become a favorite. Do you still have Tuba? I thought that she was black or is she dark blue? If you are looking to sell blue mottled pullets this year let me know as they are hard to come by in the midwest.
