Mottled Cochins are hatching!!! ~ Pics ~

yay!!! that's so wonderful! dear little newborn things. i hope mine start pipping soon too (day 20 here as well)

We have one more this morning. Looks like its black. It hatched out of the ebay cochin eggs.

The two pipped left are breathing in there, just not ready to come out yet.

You're having a great hatch! Congrats and get us pics as soon as you can... I have 3 cochins and I adore them! (1 barred cochin and 2 buff cochins)

Up to 9 chicks and 1 more who's very close. I've helped remove some shell from this one. The membrains had dried on its beak so I helped remove those. I wrapped it up in a warm moist paper towel and put it back. I hope it hatches ok. I've taken off pretty much the whole top of shell. When I was chipping some away the membrain was just so incredibly dry. I am so worried about this one. Its the 10th one and the last one pipped. So I think the rest are gone.

I'll get some cute fuzzy butt photos soon. I just moved 8 of the 9 to the brooder. The other I left in since it just hatched a little while ago and is still wet and for motiviation for the one who's not hatched yet.

Here's some more piccies. I put 7 of the blue/black/splash mottled chicks in here and the 1 black chick from ebay...

I helped the 10th chick out of the egg. The membrains had tried to its fluff and skin. So far its peeping and laying there. Kicks out every so often. Hope it starts walking and thrives.

We got 10 chicks out of 28 eggs. I think my incubator is too warm. I am often getting pips on day 19 and most hatch on day 20. I had a few blood rings who'd stopped mid incubation. So I may reduce the heat. My thermometer reads 101 a lot and it is a forced air.
