I have four new layers. Should I be concerned with the mottled Eggshell, and if so, what's the problem? Thank you!

Concerned no... hopeful it stays that way, YES! :love

Just new layers getting their systems on line. Color variance is quite normal. And they can even have an occasional softee even though they have plenty of calcium available. The reproductive system just needs to work out its' glitches sometimes... as long as you are sure nutritional requirement are met and not diminished by too many treats.

Your eggs are lovely, hope you are enjoying BYC. :frow

I don't see anything I'd called 'mottled'.
Some tiny speckles maybe...nothing to worry about.

'Speckled' eggs can happen for several different reasons...very few, if any, of which are a 'problem'.
Can be caused by:
Excess or uneven pigment coating.
Excess or uneven cuticle(bloom).
Excess calcium deposits.
Porous eggs can appear speckled.
Some birds lay them consistently, some only once in awhile.
The pigment or bloom can change appearance when wet, then change back when dry again.

As long as bird is getting a good diet and is healthy in every other way, it is no cause for concern.
