I own 2 Mottled Javas. One hen and one rooster along with 3 cochins (two roosters one hen), 1 new hampshire (hen), and 2 black sex-links (hens). Both my Javas are in excellent condition but my hen isn't laying as good as I'd like her to be. I'm also trying to figure out how to start showing chickens. Please give me advice somebody. Thanks.

I can't give any advice on showing birds, but I can tell you that some hens, regardless of health, are not good layers. One of my serama hens lays every two-three-four and even five days. Provide a good laying mash and oyster shell. Likely you will have to accept her for what she is or cull her.

If this hen is young egg production might improve with age; and if she is several years old it would be normal for her to be laying less eggs.

There's a thread devoted to Javas you may be interested in:

I've never been involved in showing chickens but I did find this thread that might help you out:

Try using the Search box right under the BYC logo and see if you can't find more info on showing.

Good luck to you!
