I recently acquired a baker's dozen Brown Lohmanns to add to my flock. The introductions went smashingly and everyone is all settled in. The new girls were all mid-moult when I got them, which I thought nothing of, but some of them are not looking any better now a month or so later. One poor girl doesn't have a single feather on her neck. The breeder had debeaked them (I got them second hand) so I wondered if some of them might be suffering from the inability to properly groom/preen. I checked for lice and mites, and there's no sign of any, also, the rest of the gang are looking just fine. Most of the worse ones are half naked with matted, ratty looking down and spare feather coverage.
Any thoughts?
