Mouse catching hen?

So anyway, I thought it was funny. She came running up to the door with the mouse (that was still alive) and treated it like a cat. She seemed to be toying with it. She would put it down and as soon as it moved she would peck it. She did this over and over. I didn't know if it was safe for her so I decided to get the mouse from her. It was quite funny watching her run from me with a mouse in her beak. So I finally cornered her and got the mouse. Is this normal and is it safe for her to eat it?.

Mine think mice are tasty treats. It's just extra protein for them.

My Sumatras eat mice all the time. They don't catch them, one of the cats do and she plops the dead mouse in front of them.
