I did see a post from back in 2013 about this. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I tried for 10 minutes to catch her to take it away and she was so determined that at the last minute, she gulped it down! While she's not my favorite hen - she's not friendly like the others - she's a good girl, pretty, and she's consistent in laying eggs so I'd hate to loose her. I don't have much here for getting into her to counter act any effects of the mouse poison - any herbal remedies?

I've heard that Epsom salt can detoxify things in the stomach, but I wouldn't know how much to give her. Sorry I can't help more. I hope she pulls through! :fl

Vitamin K would be the appropriate antidote provided that the poison was an anticoagulant.
Thank you!!! I called nearest pharmacy and TSC and neither have. I do have Rooster Booster which has VK so I made a batch up, was - amazingly - able to catch her and gave her several syringes full. Put the rest in a waterer for them to all drink. Crossing my fingers ...

If it was one of the newer rodenticides Vitamin K needs to be administered for up to several weeks. So better try some other pharmacies or call the vet office, they will have it in store.

@LaFleche @Wyorp Rock So - turns out VK is an RX due to the clotting factor (?). Perhaps this is only a MN/WI thing? Until I can get that figured out, I'll have to keep doing the Rooster Booster. I'm sorry - not taking this chicken to a vet for $120 when she only cost $5 ... :(
Just called a local vitamin shop --- I can get vita k2 - does that work?

I talked to a local/farm vet who has chickens. I also found the mouse poison my husband uses. It does not have the Bromethlin which is the worst and does not have an antidote. The farm vet said #1 if it did eat the mouse, chances are quite good that it will be okay as it ingested something that had already ingested - i.e., less toxicity. Will take a couple of weeks to know for sure but in meantime, continue with Rooster Booster. I can do vita k2 but not sure what dosage - and she didn't either so I will do some research on that. Assume less x per day as it's stronger. Ugh ...

How is your chicken today? The effect of the poison (internal bleeding) starts only after several days, so it would be important to monitor her droppings.
@LaFleche — Thanks so much for checking back!!! I checked poop board and didn’t see anything, then was able to catch her and looked at her rear-end and don’t see anything. The mouse was discovered on Tuesday - would that be enough time to notice?
