I have chicks at different ages. 3 are 6 weeks going on 7 weeks and the rest are 5 weeks going on 6 weeks. If I move the older chicks to the coop (one is a cockerel) when the younger chicks move out in the next week or two will they follow the older chicks into the coop? Or do you have to get them used to it as well? Or should I wait and move them all together?

It’s 32 square feet and we have 9 chickens. We live in Southeast Texas so temps at night have been about 75 + or - a few degrees at and getting warmer. When you say brood in the coop do you leave them in the coop majority of the time?

Can you post a picture of the chicks and tag me? I am trying to gauge how old mine are

You mentioned having 9 chickens. Do you have 9 adult chickens in the coop already, or moving 9 chicks to an empty coop?
If the coop is empty, move them all out together now, they are plenty old enough to be outside (we are in SETX also).

Oh yeah mine are much smaller. They are on screened in porch in brooder now. It’s 83 in there without lamp on (which I will turn on before I go to bed)

I hope no cats, snakes, mice, rats, raccoons etc. break into the porch much less the brooder

Mine are actually all different sizes. Here Is Athena my Easter Egger sitting on my husbands shoulder, she is 6 weeks.

The coop was empty. Went ahead and moved them all out since we are so warm. What part of SETX? We are up around Woodville in a little town called Chester
