So we ended up moving again due to a really bad school system for our kids and I didn’t have enough time to remove the old loft so it is time to build a new one. Sadly have to do a bit smaller on this one but hoping it has some better features than the other. My old one was 6x10 with 2 sections, but doing a 6x8 with one section, 12 breeding boxes and as many perches that fit reasonably. Gunna do a sliding door right inside the door so on nice days I can leave the solid door open and added a poop door for me to scrap out of and will double as extra ventilation.

Good luck - looking forward to seeing the progress!

One loft section has always worked fine for me even with breeding. I think the key is to have doors or fronts you can put on breeding boxes. I’ve never had an issue with other adult pigeons entering the boxes and hurting squabs, but I have had some squabs jump out early, get stuck on the floor, and then get hurt by aggressive or overly amorous male pigeons.

Thank you! I’m planning on getting the plastic fronts from foys as they are the most cost effective as well as doing a little bit larger nest box than I had last time to fit the fronts so should be around 15”x25” each and hoping for 12 of them

Got ice and water on the roof along with drip edge and shingles will be going on tomorrow. Finished up my sliding door and should be able to grab the last few sheets of plywood by the weekend to get it closed up.

Well of course I can never remember all the things I need to put so I had to move some perches to make room for the trap and aviary entrance. Also turning my poop door into an outside access water area but will still be able to open it up to scrape through. Pretty happy with how it is coming out so far.

Trying to keep it all self contained because at my last house I kept my feed in the garage but no garage at this property so I got a little storage area made for my feed can and one shelf made for odds and ends. There will be one more shelf the same size right below the first as well as another little area for my crates. I also made two nest bowl shelf’s since I had an issue getting my last birds to start a second round when the should, hoping this helps. Starting to come along.
