and into the shed that I said I'd never have chickens in! I am going to be away for a couple of weeks and I am trying to make things easier for my daughter to take care of. So I moved the 2 story rabbit hutch into the shed. There is a 50 watt heat lamp on the top floor and a 60 watt ceramic heat lamp on the bottom floor. All triple secured! The temp on the top floor is 90 degrees so it should be fine. I will see what it gets to in the daytime and probably adjust it or turn it off (just the bottom with the bigger chicks). They seemed to love it set about digging like crazy and throwing all the rice hulls out. That is why the bottom is covered in duct tape! I will attach 3" high board tomorrow. They have rabbit style waterers and a regular chick waterer. They have a little elevated bridge for sleeping closer to the heat. Of course they have food too. Both levels have roosts as well. So I will clean up the brooder in my office and get it ready for the Icelandics that will be hatching the week I get home. Here are my 18 (soon to be 14) babies in their new digs.
(Oh, and by the way, Lukka is sitting on four eggs and two are pipped!) Also, check out my radical new feeder in the Feeding Your Flock forum!
