Moved chicks to the coop

Thank you

A friend recently supplied us with a bunch of pallets, which we accepted with no clear idea of what we might use them for, but figured they would come in handy at some point. Thank you for all your pictures, you've given us some great ideas! Our run is pretty much wide open with no real protection from above, and we lost a hen to a red-tailed hawk about a month ago. The pallets will make great shelters like the ones in your run, so thanks! (Sometimes we are not very creative!)

Thank you
Are they all hens? My chicks are all still separated but only by chicken wire..but there are 5 cockerels and 2hens. I was told to keep them separated until the cockerels start bugging the hens..then separate them..pick the best to be our roosterrr..friendliest, etc...and then integrated hens....maybe I should move things faster?
Yes they are all hens

@azygous Think @Duckfarmer1 is wanting to know about integrating cockerels with the flock or pick the better then intergrate it into the flock.
Thanks for clearing this up.

I doubt it will make any difference as far as the chicks are concerned. But perhaps you will be able to judge temperaments better if the cockerels are exposed to the pullets and you can observe how they are interacting.

Among my spring chicks recently was one cockerel. I already have two adult roos and wasn't planning to keep this fellow if he showed any aggressive tendencies. While still hanging out mostly with the pullets, George the six-week old cockerel was becoming very mean and aggressive with them. I decided right then to cull him. By five or six weeks, I've learned from experience that a cockerel is showing me already who he is.
