Ok so it is 80 degrees here.. and I thought it was time to move the chics out of their gazebo containment/brooder thing I had for them..into a little coop...
still sequestered away from the big girls...

so does anyone know of any issues with having the lamp on them tonight when it gets cold?
It is still getting 38-45 at nights here in the desert... Chicks range in age from like 1.5 to 3 weeks old...
Is there any chance of the red heat lamp cause the wood to catch fire?

PS: Ignore the white lump that is a old stuffed bear my Golden carries around.. she was laying out with it watching the chicks.. she takes her job seriously... No chickens are laying about dead in the yard..LOL

I just realized that is what it kind of looked like from a distance...

Idk, thats a fast temp drop. I'm not sure it would catch the wood on fire but I do worry that the lamp isn't going to keep them warm enough. I would worry about the youngest ones a lot. *If it were me* I would bring chicks back in once outside temps are under 70* for another week. The young ones can barely keep warm at 80* right now.
