I moved my 2 5or6 week old chick's outside today. They are in the top part of the coop with the door shut (can see and hear the other two one year old hens) I put the brooder plate I had in crate in my house and food and water. I'm so nervous! The big girls acted like they didn't want to go into the bottom part of the coop tonight. We did add new top soil to the bottom and it wasn't quite dark, but I was worried they would roost in the tree and I am waaaay too short to get them down alone when they do! Am I just overthinking every thing ? I just want my girls to have the happiest, healthiest lives possible. Also, can anyone tell for sure if these are pullets? Stepmom gifted to me and said they were. I would love to know breed! They came from TSC. Thanks. This group is the best! 🌻❤️🌻

They shouldn't need the heat plate at all, though it does no harm for it to be there.

Do your older birds normally live inside this coop? I can't blame them for being distressed because there's something new and different and they can't get into the coop to actually see what it is.

Assuming both chicks are the same breed, it looks like you have 1 boy, 1 girl.

They do not, they roost on a perch at night outside of it, but don't usually go inside unless I bribe them with treats. They did use the nesting boxes, but since the spring they've been laying outside.
