Movement in the shell before hatch - Question **UPDATE**

hehehe...the one that's not doing anything may decide to pip and zip before the others...its a total surprise sometimes....

the one that pipped early will probably be ok, has it made any progress at all? (pip getting bigger?) it may just be still absorbing the yolk sac...give it a little more time...keep your humidity up

let us know when the others pip!

Yes, "she" has been making some progress. Not a whole lot but a little more of the shell broke away last night. She some of the white membrane cleared away from where the egg is chipped away. She'll peck at it some here and there but nothing too powerful.

I would imagine (and this is just my thinking) that she is still absorbing the yolk and just isn't quite ready to emerge yet.

It makes me nervous that she has pipped over on the pointy end of the egg but nobody has said anything about that, so... I guess it's not too bad then.

I'll keep you all updated!

Well they are supposed to pip the other end, but nobody told the chicks that!

Just keep an eye on it and make the best decision you can. If it hasn't hatched by tonight, I would probably start helping (but its ok if you don't too).

Any other pips?

Woo Hoo!! I came home from the office at 1:45pm and she was out!! She was laying up against one of the other eggs telling it to hurry up.

I went outside to check on the chickens. I came back in and went to look again, one of the other eggs has pipped.

My daughter already has this one named, as the egg is heavily speckled. She has named the chick "Freckles." I can't wait for her to get home from school to see. She's 9 years old.

Hopefully the other 2 follow right along!!

Well "Freckles" hatched around 5pm. The whole family got to watch. It sure is amazing!!

Still waiting for the other two. One has a very tiny pip. But this is the 4th egg that I couldn't detect any movement in on day 18. Apparently something is going on in there.

Yay! That's great! I had one zip and hatch in 15 min this morning!!! The bad thing is I was on my way out the door to work when it started and I wasn't gonna miss the hatch so I was 15 min late to work!!

Rebecca, what kind did you have hatch? It seems like there's always something else going on when you NEED to be by the bator, LOL.

I'll post some pics when I get them out of the bator.

No changes this morning with any of the remaining two eggs, although they are turned around a little bit. I can think of 2 little reasons for that, LOL.

Today is actually hatch day, so hopefully these remaining two will be "on time."

My daughter was worried this morning that she won't be able to tell which one Freckles is

. I said, "Well, right now she's the bigger of the two." Of course, if there are two more when she gets home from school, I may just have to pick one, LOL.

Well, here's a pic of my two new babies. I've still got two eggs left. One is still rocking and peeping. It is now officially day 22. I haven't seen any action out of the other egg. I guess perhaps something went wrong. Anyway, I hope #3 makes it.
