I notice all kinds of poultry in movies and TV shows. (I have chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese.) The History Channel program "Vikings" had Delaware chickens in the first episode. I don't think the Vikings had Delawares. The second episode and a later one showed a flock of Toulouse geese (at a monastery) and that would be historically accurate.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas has chickens, the place in the title is nicknamed "The Chicken Ranch" as that was once the cover for the business. It mentions that during the depression the girls would sometimes accept chickens as payment for services rendered. There is one scene showing a whole field of white leghorns.
Son-in-law had some chickens and a rooster crowing too. Also had on part where the main character had to butcher a turkey for thanksgiving dinner. It's a comedy with Pauly Shore in it. Also Homeward Bound (1993 version), had one scene where the dog was chasing a flock of mixed fowl. I haven't seen either of these movies in years and can't remember what breeds they had.
In COLD MOUNTAIN, Rene Zellwegger showed Nicole Kidman what to do with roosters that flop people. When she grabbed him up and snapped his neck, my boyfriend looked at me and said D@@@!
