i've got a couple broody hens and although I would like nothing better than raising more chickens, my husband is not so enthusiastic about the prospect. I do have a friend who lost her hens last year and I asked if she'd like these chicks. last year I let two of my hens raise some babies and we had chicks every where (it was so much fun) but Matt says not this year. so I was thinking about the idea of moving the broodys to my friends house for the hatching and raising and then bringing them back here when they are done. But I wonder if the disruption of trying to move them would be harmful. I know I could move one of them without even taking her out of the nest (the nest itself could be picked up), but the other is lodged between two bales of hay so that will be harder. i also thought about taking the eggs from the hen between the hay bales and adding them to the hen in the easily moved nest and just moving her. Do any of these options sound plausible, or am I just creating problems? thanks, Chris
