Moving chickens across the US

Has anyone moved chickens in a moving van or mini-van in a dog crate? I am moving from CO to TN and would love to take my 5 one year old hens with me. Any ideas?

Cetawin just moved chickens and ducks from Oregon to Kentucky- I think she got dog crates. It's posted here somewhere what she did, but I am not sure of the thread. She should be back on line in a day or two, and you could contact her.

thats what i'd do, load em up pretty loose in open crates, and make sure they get plenty of food and water.

We don't have a truck. We will just have a minivan. I was thinking that with some straw in a dog crate, 5 hens should do ok and not stink too much? I'll also have 2 kids, 2 cats, and one dog in the minivan. It's going to be a fun 18 hours.
