Maybe it's just that usually the higher roost is closest to wall(12" away),
so it looks odd.
Spacing for lower roosts I am not real familiar with, thinking 12" out and down.
But what you have might work just fine.

Good to have a perch ~8" in front of nest to land on before entering nest,
wing spread won't fit thru nest entrance and they like to look before entering.

I was just going to ask if it was permanently on the trailer. The bf had suggested building a permanent coop on one of the trailers we have.

I was thinking the same thing about the roosts. I bet they all squeeze on the top roost eventually.
