My pet mallard is sitting on some fertile eggs, but we are moving before the hatch date. I was wondering how I can move the eggs without her abandoning the nest.

How close to hatch day will you be moving? it's very tricky moving a broody duck once they begin to sit, but it can be done I moved mine 2X first she was sitting in the wrong place Goose house so I moved her to my feed room and put her in a large dog crate kept her in it for the whole day before letting her out she got confused and went back to the goose house but I caught her and put her back in feed room on her eggs and she stayed, then when hatch day was a couple days away I moved her again to the small coop that I use for hatching, left her in a smaller dog crate and again closed her up for the day, she of course went back to the feed room next day but after I put her in the coop she stayed on her eggs, she is an exception rather than a rule though because a lot of times once they are moved they will give up sitting and leave their eggs. But the dog crate maybe your best bet. Putting her nest and all inside closing her up covering as best you can [with plenty of air though] and moving her to new home. Hope it works out.

We're going to move a couple days before the hatch date. But I think if I can introduce the kennel now, then it could work! Thank you so much!
