Hi all!

I have/had a broody hen who was sitting on about 10 eggs. She was sitting for two weeks and two ended up hatching (must have got different eggs at different times). Now that she’s got two she doesn’t want to sit on the rest.

Can I successfully move them to an incubator? I’ve never incubated eggs, only ever let my broodys do the work so what is the correct settings if I can move them?

Thanks so much!

Hi - yes, you can move them to an incubator. If it's a circulated air incubator, temperature should be about 99.5 degrees and I run humidity on the low side (mid-30s to low 40s) for chicken eggs. Does it have an auto-turner? If not, you'll need to hand turn several times a day until lockdown.

The Learning Center has a lot of helpful info on incubation, if you haven't already perused it.
