Has anyone here moved to Alaska from the lower 48 and taken chickens(or livestock) with them?
We are considering a permanent move due to work and don't want to give up our investment of our organic chickens, plus they're my babies.
Does anyone have any pointers as to how to get them there without the stress of licenses and permits for Canada? What was your experience?

Thank you all!

My uncle did and you must drive them and its best to have them on the down low so they cause less attention the only full proof way is to take them by boat then drive them home. Its a lot of work but he said it is definitaly worth it he saved thousands on meat amd eggs bcs the cost of loving there is so high.

Hi there I know this an older post but where did your uncle got on the boat and where was he able to get off? Also what was the cost for him and all the chickens to board that boat? If that info is available I would greatly appreciate it. We are planning to move to ak but I am not leaving my girls behind like you said they are a huge help and huge money savings.

You might have better luck getting information from members that are on the Alaska state thread:

Best of luck to you!

Thank you very much I know it was long time ago but I was hoping those people were still here cuz this website is a must for any livestock owner😍

Yes, member Alaskan moved from Texas to Alaska because he didn't want so many people crowding him. I don't know if he completely adjusted to Alaska but, his kids & spouse did and they DO NOT WANT TO MOVE.
