Our muscovy started laying in our chicken nesting boxes, which are about 2-3 feet off the ground. She has laid about 5 eggs so far. The nesting box is in a bit of an awkward spot that we wouldn't be able to immediately separate the mother and her ducklings from the rest of the chickens/ducks once they hatched. Also, not sure if the fall would cause problems?
Is there any way to encourage her to lay in a different area? Or should we let it be? We tried moving the first two eggs when she started laying back to where she laid her previous nest (plastic storage container), but when we checked the next morning, the eggs were pushed out of the container and a new egg was in the chicken nesting box.
