Moving outside (Temperate climate)

Thank you - do they need a grit high in calcium or will that cause negative effects at their age (5 weeks)

(This should be my last question... sorry for asking so much!)

Grit and oystershell are two different things for two different purposes.

Grit is usually granite. It's purpose is to grind material up in the gizzard -- since chickens don't have teeth to chew food with.

Oystershell is given to laying hens as a calcium substitute and is unnecessary for any chicken that isn't laying.
