I have 4 chicks, two 5 wks old and 2 4wks old. They have been in my laundry room since they were 1-2 weeks old. We live in North Carolina where is it in the 90's during the day. Can I move them to the garage now, with a fan to keep air circulating? When can I move them to coup outside?

This time of year, as hot as it is, I move mine outside by 3-4 weeks. Since you have a couple of them, and they should have a decent set of feathers, they should be fine without heat at night. I would worry the garage will get too hot during the day.

I moved mine to their coop about a week ago, and they were 3 weeks old. I have 15 hatchery BR's and they have most of their feathers. They did fine and during the heat wave we had, I had to put a fan in their coop, as they were too hot! Even way up north here.

Some people start them in their coops from day one! It's summer, so things are a bit different than in the spring.

I moved mine to the coop when they were 5 or 6 weeks old. I would've moved them out a week or so earlier but the coop wasn't done yet lol. I would agree that the garage would probably get too hot for them.

Thanks. Moved them out 2 days ago. Separated them in the run from my two 9 week old polish top hats. Put a dog kennel in there for there temporary coop. Doing great. Seem so happy.
