Moving rooster

i would like to move my adult silkie rooster into a smaller coop with some chicks. I'll move the other silkie with him also in with them. I was wondering if his old coop was two close to the new one or if seeing the other chickens would upset him and he'd want out. I'll be expanding the smaller coop with some extensions also. I also plan on putting a rooster with his old flock of hens.

The new coop is probably about 5-10 feet away.

I find that they usually adjust pretty quickly. We tend to put human emotions on animals when they are acting out of instinct. Try it and see. Give them about a week to settle in.
