We currently have 41 fuzzbutts in our 4 x 4 brooder, set up in the kitchen... Monday, they will be 3 weeks old, and I think they are getting too big for the brooder. Our coop is nearly finished, just need to router the roosts, and screen the vent holes...

If I close up all but 2 of the vent holes (there are 6 on the front and 6 on the back at the roof), and put a heat lamp out there, can they be moved outside to the coop, or is it still too early? (we have probably 4 extra heat lamps, so we wouldn't miss one or two being out in the coop...)

Here is a picture of the coop during construction:

I just put my chicks outside in the shed with a heat lamp and they seem to be doing great. Its only been a couple of days but they are doing well.

I think you can probably move them in now, but it really depends on the temps.

We've been jumping between 60 - 70 degree days, then all of a sudden we're in the 40's then back... it's so screwy...
