Does anyone know what the ordinances are in this area for chickens or even where I could look to find them ? Any help would be appreciated.

Jonesboro and especially Clayton County (ClayCo as the locals refer to it), are pretty tricky. I cannot find anything that is specific to "Jonesboro" I think it's going to depend on several factors. Inside or outside of the city limits, whether your in an HOA or not, and how much land you're on.

I'm one county over in Henry County and here we can have 25 chickens to every acre of land, if you are outside of the city limits. I know of one HOA community here in Henry that does not allow any type of livestock in the neighborhood at all.

I think you're going to have to call the county and find out about your specific address.

    Here's some numbers for you:

    Clayton County Administration, Annex 1
    112 Smith Street
    Jonesboro, GA 30236

    (770) 477-3208

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT P.K. Dixon Building, Annex 2
    121 South McDonough Street
    Jonesboro, GA 30236

    Planning & Zoning
    (770) 477-3678

Good luck and welcome to the south "hun".

    Hey Jrsno1fan,
Where did you get the info on 25 chickens per acre in Henry Co? Same as silver1313, I was trying to find the info and came across a guy in Stockbridge( Henry Co, outside of city) that said he found it in the Henry County ordinances that Henry county considered chickens livestock and you could not keep chickens unless you had a minimum of 3 acres of land. I'm not disputing either of you, I just want to find it in writing somewhere in case I have the county come after me about raising chickens. I'm out of the city( Mcdonough) but still in a neighborhood where a neighbor ( actually just one old troll of a woman that hates everybody) may complain and try to sic the county on me. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks,

I read more recently ... in the muni codes i think it was ...that if you have under three acres that jonesboro is now allowing up to 20 birds in the county ... nearby senoia (sp? ) has no specific laws on the books that i can find .... when we get a definite area then i will be calling the BOC etc to find out ....

it will be welcome back lol and its a lot easier to have chickens there than it is here lol

I found that info in the original zoning codes but when i looked at the more recent muni codes it has been changed.. I listed that information in the other post on here ...
