Moving with chickens to Maryland

DH just retired from the Marine Corps about 2 weeks ago. He has a job offer with Lockheed in Maryland at Pax River Naval Base. We have already agreed that IF we move, the breeding stock and our 2 goats come with us. So my question is do my birds need to be NPIP to get them into the state? I know you have to register your flock and be NPIP if you want to show. But the process of getting NPIP out here is SO slow and I don't know if I have time before we would have to move. If anyone knows or knows where i need to look I would appreciate it.

Alos if anyone could direct us to a nice town near Pax River to look for a town that we can get land and have roosters that would be great too.

Hi! My hubby retired out of AAFB so we are fairly near to pax river in Charles county. PLEASE ( unless you plan on buying multiply acreage then ignore this) check and triple check your zoning on whatever property you decide to purchase. Cut a long story short I thought I'd done everything correctly and come to find out 2 days ago I'm only allowed 1 chicken per half acre!!? The inspector truly didn't know anything and had to consult his supervisor who in turn is just as confused, and now is making ME confused! Basically told me I have 30 days to remove my chickens

That's awful! We will be hoping to get a couple of acres and checking zoning very carefully if we buy. I'm just worried about transporting them into the state in the first place California isnt strict about it at all. We will know today what they are willing to offer him pay wise and if he will consider taking it. I have to say I don't have my fingers crossed. I did nothave a good experience when we lived there about 6-7 years ago.
