Moving with Chickens

Hello all!
I am new to this forum and hope there are a few of you who can help. I am moving with my 4 hens from Seattle to Peoria, AZ. Does anyone have suggestions to make the 1,500 mile ride less tramatic for them OR me?

Hi Petra. I have a house in Peoria and most of Peoria you are not allowed to have chickens. Have you checked to make sure you can have them because if you have close neighbors they will turn you in. Just the way people are.
That's why I stay up north all the time because I'm out in the country and we can have all the animals we want.
Just thought I would give you a heads up.

Welcome! You can't leave western washington!!! How dare you! It's such a nice place up here. But alass, you must move. I suggest that you put them into dog carriers with food and chopped up fruits and veggies so they can stay hydrated. Good luck!

I don't know about Peoria but Glendale borders Peoria and you can have chickens here. No roos. And if you are in an HOA watch out. It's nice here, or there it's all the same area. We have feed stores and you can get chicks year round. If you have kids, Peoria is a good district, but it doesn't really matter because Az. is an open enrollment state. You can send them to whatever school you want as long as they aren't full. Welcome.

My new house is in a non-HOA area and I've checked the city ordinance and it sounds like hens are allowed as long as their area is kept clean.
