Help! My eggs are pipping in the wrong end, from what I understand they can still successfully hatch but it can go either way. I’m worried about the membranes looking too dry though for hatch day 20, no hatches yet but 6 or so external pips and all 4 of my pipped silkie eggs pipped in the wrong spot, one looks like it may have hit a blood vessel because there is some red near the hole but it doesn’t appear to be bleeding profusely so I have my fingers crossed. I have NOT opened the lid since lockdown so I don’t know why the membranes are so dry. The humidity has been struggling to keep up in lockdown, and I’ve been struggling to keep the temps consistent too. My humidity average was acceptable until lockdown, but I cannot get it into the 60s since lockdown on Sunday.

Im worried about these eggs hatching, is there anything I can do that I haven’t already done? They are in a kindergarten class so I can only monitor the incubator once or twice a day. I’m using a nature right 360, fourth hatch in this one since last year and it seems to be less and less stable as I use it more. I have Govee monitors inside.

Any way to add a sponge or cloth for more water surface? When they pip on the wrong end they have a longer external pip time, so the membranes are more likely to dry out.

I will try a rag or sponge. thank you for the idea! Do I need to spritz the dry membranes or anything while I have the incubator open to add the sponge?
