Moving with Chickens

this was a super helpful thread. i'm fixing to move from Wisconsin to oregon next week. we have 4 chickens & i've been sweating the logistics of moving them. one question-i've read you're not supposed to feed them during transport, only water. is this true?

I'm not moving any time soon, but it's a strong possibility for the future. (1 year). I hope that I can get a place that will allow chickens, does anybody know where to get the health certificate? I try my best to follow all the rules, and I would hate to have to turn over my girls to a random county/state.

Thank you!

i just did this myself from wisconsin to oregon. we have 4 hens & we put them in a large dog kennel in the back of my subaru. your vet can either do the health cerification or refer you to someone who will. we had an ag school in our town, maybe that would work. re: the travel, it took us 3 days, 12 hours a day driving, & we left them in the car while we slept in the hotel. they did fine, even laid eggs daily on the road! we wouldn't have been able to do it, though, had it been very hot or cold at night.
