Hey everyone!

My partner and I are moving and it's a 7 hour drive. We have 3 chickens and 4 ducks to move. I was wondering if anyone has the best way to move them? I have a wire dog kennel and a air traveling dog kennel. Not sure if that would be best or another kind of transportation enclosure.

I am not speaking from experience other than a 20 minute drive with pullets in a box, but I would use either of those options that you have. Make sure the bedding is something that will help them not slip (hay/straw over shavings probably) and if possible try to darken the kennels while still maintaining good airflow. My chickens are always so much calmer when they are in a dimmer area. Expect some evidence of stress when you arrive - a molt or decreased egg production. Good luck with your move!

I moved 10 hens (given it was only a 30min drive) all together in a 3x5 dog kennel and they did much better then expected. It would really depend on the size of your crates and if they will be inside a vehicle or out in a truck bed. Mine where inside the back of my suv (fyi out gets stinky fast).

Welcome to BYC!
Crates should work...temperatures are probably the biggest concern.
