Would there be a chance of something falling over? Pending on what you put them in could they be hurt? If they are thrown around(jarred around ) to much it could hurt them. I think being in a uhaul would be stressful and dangerous for them. I am not saying this to be mean. But just want you to think about it. Is there a possibility of rehoming and getting others at your new home?
I think that’s probably best is to rehome them. I just don’t want to list on Craig’s list or give them to someone who will just eat them.

Thats understandable, do you know anyone who has chickens already that can take them. You can also post them on your state thread here on BYC, if that is what you decide to do.

If you put them in a large plastic tote, with a cover (air holes of course) I don't think they would mind the trip. Line the bottom with old towels and shavings for feet comfort.
If you can leave after 5pm all the better since they normally try to roost by 6:30 or so. (At least mine do) You can stop and cover the tote for darkness if the uhaul lets any light in. When you get there you can just leave them in the tote till morning since hopefully they will be sleeping anyway.
