Moving

A cardboard box with hay in the bottom. Darkness helps birds remain calm and relaxed during a strange experience.

Smaller is best, so they wont tumble around so much. It should be just big enough for them to stand and turn around.

is there any way you can move them at night? That would be the best time to move them. I would use a pet carrier or even just cardboard boxes with air holes cut out.

I brought my starter pullets home in the back of my suv 3 times it was a 30 min trip no problems just clean up the poop I did put papers down.

can't get enough chicken :

will that be too small or will they be fine in there for 20 minutes?

I think those pet taxi from petco/petsmart where ever for cats would be fine... dark and recyclable.

They will be upset at first, then get quiet... I would keep them there less then 2 hours.

Also, if you don't have hay, put a bunched up towel in their box or carrier. They feel much more secure when they have something to grip with their feet.
