MPC straw = chick gold

so in an effort to do anything to distract my meanyface eye pecking chicken, we pulled out some wads of the straw stuff that MPC packs around the chicks in their box and then put it in the brooder with the chicks. they went nuts for it. pecking and scratching and dragging it all over the coop. it doesn't seem to break down at all so they can't eat any of it in their enthusiasm. it definitely keeps everyone well entertained but does rather make the brooder a bit messier.

give it a go and let me know how it works for you.

i'm guessing it evokes that worms or maggots eating instinct cuz it beats climbing blocks, shiny things, and pasta by a mile.

My box had two sheets of the stuff. I tucked one in at one end of the brooder, and they slept on that for quite awhile. The other one, I folded into a log shape and put it in the other end. They would jump on and off and some liked to sleep on it. I loved the stuff, but eventually had to toss it.
