Just raise them like you raised your mallard ducklings, except they may try to climb out of stuff, especially if they can get a toe hold! They are really hardy ducks, just gotta baby them in the winter a little in your neck of the woods!!
Tori, again, great job and congratulations!! I hope you enjoy the little guys!! I should have one clutch hatching today or tomorrow along with one of the mandarin clutches, and ive got a mess load of eggs under three different banty hens now!! I'll be throwing them in the incubator shortly to finish them out!!
I love baby ducklings!!..........Jason
You aren't kidding about them climbing... those toenails are killer!!!
Omg, I am so in love with these little babies. They're doing well. In fact, they just figured out how to make a mess with their water, so they're right on par for being pita's like my mallards! LOL! I'm going to have fun designing an enclosure for them. We mostly have spruce trees, but the cottonwood branches will work for some neat roosts. I know my bobwhites love them. I'm going to put them a little closer to the house so that I can run electricity out to them for heat in the winter.
for your hatches Jason! If/when I ever get down to your area again, I'll let you know... I'd love to see your setup!
All this makes me wish I was still living in CA.
