We have a Cayuga and two mallards. They have a small house they sleep in and they wander around the house and yard going back and forth to the stream during the day. This morning when I let them out, Ms. Tickles, the mallard hen, flew toward the stream like she does every morning, but she never stopped. The drake didn't follow because he wouldn't leave the Cayuga hen behind. I once heard her calling a ways off in the woods, but am here with two small children and can't go searching for her. I hope she comes back.

Hopefully the male will call her back, but I know many people have had their Mallards take off and do what Mallards do.
I dread the day mine do this, but also know at some point it will probably happen.
I hope she comes home for you.

She's back. She was gone for several hours, but showed up this afternoon. Glad she is back, I hope she stays.
