Just wondering if there's something I can do to help with the muckyness in my outside run! Smelly and very poopy

No I haven't...wouldn't that get heavy and wet too?? Where do you get the sand from?
 
as long as there is proper drainage, sand works great in a run. you can purchase sand from lowes or home depot or have it trucked in from a quarry.

I had the same problem in the spring...more of a problem here was the smell over the muck...which is no picnic either...I went over to sand in my run and I haven't had muck or a smell ever since...the poop just disappears...I haven't needed to clean my run since...that was may-ish....I'm thinking of using sand in my coop next spring...I bought 3 yards of mason sand for 100.00 at a local place....best thing I've done yet...good luck
 
Thank you for the great advice! I guess I'll have to try this and see what happens! Ugggg it's so yucky in there
 
pine needles / pine straw

fallen autumn leaves, can also be slightly mulched
(I run over a pile of leaves once with the mulching blade of our lawnmower)
