How do people deal with mud in pastures/barnyard? We have a very low lying property, very wet and muddy. The pastures and high traffic areas are absolutely awful looking. You can't walk without splashing mud on your clothes and shoes, and it gets in the goats coats. Putting in a pathway isn't really an option, because we don't want to spend too much money. Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

Dig a small creek through the worst areas and connect it to a good drain, we use a ditch abot 15 ft deep for our drain. In heavy rAin backwash will flood the field but under normal conditions the extra drainage keeps the area dry enough to mow. Our creeks are about a foot deep and 2 feet across the they can be easily crossed

We use straw in small areas, such as walkways. Rock is more expensive, but more permanent than straw and less expensive than concrete.
