Good for you! I've never had luck vent sexing. I was told you couldn't vent sex buttons until after they have laid eggs, and by that time, if they have laid eggs, you know they're girls I was thinking that tux was a blue face hen, but you still had a great hatch if you got an even number of males and hens!

Nice to hear about how everyone is going with their king quails. My little ones are adults now so I have to figure out pairing, I have one boy and two girls, pretty good mix.

I also got a rescue king quail hen. I have now put her with my cock who was attacked and plucked by his mother. I think his sisters miss him though.

King quails are much easier to house and pair compared to japanese quail, in my experience.

my 3 males and 7 hens are still getting along well in their community setting.....I have 4 of their eggs in with this week’s hatch. We have plans to build a separate aviary inside the current one for the buttons, finches, and budgies to go outside as soon as possible! I just need a few more non-rainy weekends to finish all the spring projects! since i changed their bedding to pine shavings, their feet seem to be staying cleaner

update: 4/5 eggs hatched!! looks like 2 male, 2 female as chicks....I’m still learning though will upload photos from other device.....but they are on quail hatch a long thread already

yes 2nd is definitely roo....first is most likely hen. i just noticed last night that one of my favorite hens is looking pretty bald! i’m going to have to get these guys to the larger cage soon!! I thought with buttons that 3:7 would be an ok ratio

just had 4 more hatch from my eggs last week! hopefully this means i’ve gotten my humidity problems corrected!
