i have 8 giant blue cochins, and they're like... i forgot how old they are... they just stopped making PIO PIO noises and are starting to sound like chickens...

they're super fluffy, but i noticed that they felt a bit thin... like, i can feel their chest bone kind of sharp/pointy... they eat like crazy, but i also noticed that they don't poop like normal... they have like brown mud looking diarrhea poop... but they've pooped like that since i can remember... but now after reading a couple of threads, they're saying that it could be cooci, or something... but what should i check for, and do with them...?

thanks in advanced...

I have never wormed mine.

How often do you need to worm?
And with what?

i worm mine two times per year (spring and autumn) with flubenvet.

for the first few years of chicken keeping i never wormed mine and always seemed to get chickens that went thin and scrawny with sloppy poops that ended up dying, i never knew i was meant to worm my chickens either until i came across byc

now i do it twice a year and my chickens are in super health. i always put apple cider vinegar in their water to give them a boost

i feel bad, but now i know that i know what is going on... thanks for the quick reply, too bad i just saw it... the stores are closed...

to worm them you need a good all round wormer. i use flubenvet as there is no egg withdrawel time with this. i dont know which wormers people use over the pond but im sure if you do a quick search on here you'll find the name of one
