I'm in real sandy area, but with all the rain, the run is damp and looks uncomfortable. Do the chickens suffer from it being wet?

It looks like their feet can take it but wondered if there is anything I can do to dry it up. Add straw or bedding wood chips or something?

Do not add straw, it retains water and will only make a bigger mess. I hear everyone saying chickens don't like to get wet, mine free range and if it gets too rainy they go back to the coop or take cover under a tree. If it's deep mud like dragging their tail feathers through I would add some crushed stone or hand dig a drainage ditch. It sounds like it's just due to the rainy season and it will dry up.
