Thanks for all the advice on the muddy run.
Here in Houston we have either really nice, hot but humid and dry weather or the buckets full of rain type weather. Right now our run is dry and not muddy, but it is supposed to get really bad this weekend, and the mud will return, yikes. I have raise our floor a few inches in the coop, so at least the coop is not flooding ( cross my fingers). Once it dries up again I will implement your method to get the run dry once and for all. I forgot to mention our run is open air, so no roof on it.

When your runs are all muddy and under water do you let the chicks out or do you keep them in untill it dries out?

I let them out in all weather but snow. You do get mud on the eggs though.

I gave up on training them to wipe their feet at the pop door entrance, they just didn't comprehend!!
